A new plug-in for Artio Joomsef found its way to the community. With this you are able to form SEF-urls for ME and the rest of your joomla site.

The Joomsef plug-in for ME can be found here

after installing your ME links will look like:

www.your-domain.com/estate/cat/subcat/title-of-the-object.html

e.g.
www.your-domain/estate/house/rent/house-in-south-africa-stunning-views.html

If you do not like the you-domain.com/estate you have to alter the plug-in script and change estate to whatever you like.

I tried joomsef few months ago, but gived it up because the duplicating links problem which gave me a hard time and may result in search engine penalisation ... did they solved the problem ?

... and do you know, would this extension file work with sh404SEF (which is pritty much a rework of joomsef but with nicely solved link duplication bug) ???

Well, I've absolutely no probs with Joomsef. There is even a newer version now. The latest is 2.1.1 and the duplicate links prob. seems to be solved. Only 'bad' thing is that they implemented a source code ad- system adding some ad-text after the Joomla copyright. Dunno if there is an ad-free version you have to donate for or something like that.

As for all the SEF components you have to have good title tag management of your content (max. 5 keywords in the content title), good keywords (up to 10 for Google) nice meta tags and some descriptions too.

Furthermore you have to protect your site against content-grabber and hijacking bots to get a good page-rank. This is the real menace these days and the reason why people are listed at page 400+ in google.

By protect I do not mean with your .htaccess cos you wont come after those bots. Use some spiffy scripts which are updated via cronjobs or by executing the index.php of your site.

I can't tell you anything about sh404SEF cos I never used it before nor any plug-ins.

I think there is a little bug in the Joomsef plug-in for ME

Here is the case:
If you are on a object-page like this:
http://www.luxe-woning-spanje.nl/en/estate/costa-blanca/bestaande-woningen/ref.-9278-villa-met-een-adembenemend-uitzicht.html

Please look for the link Resale (in the path Home Costa Blanca Resale | Search.
A SEF URL is created, but on all the objectpages the text &amp;sc=y is added after the SEF URL (only this link!). When you click you get a 404.
When I disable SEF URL's in the Joomla-configuration it works okay!

I queried the table jos_redirection to find .html&amp;sc=y, but didn't find SEF-URL's like this.

Does anybody have any idea why this is going wrong and how we can fix this?

Just wondering because the this link works just fine.

You will find that code in ../components/com_estateagent/

estaeagent.php and estateagent.html.php

search for sc=y in those files
